If you go to Thailand, you should really go to the small islands by a long-tail boat. It’s such a beautiful nature experience. I really recommend it, especially if you are like me, don’t like sunbathing and staying on the beach all day.

This beach is only reachable by boat. I read about one guy that went by foot in the jungle to get here and it took home several days. I stayed in a bamboo bungalow a couple of meters from the shoreline and saw the most amazing sunrises in the mornings.

This was a really small place with just a few guests accept from me and my family. All the bungalows were on the beach and behind us the forest was really thick. My bungalow was in the back furthest away from the bar and restaurant. I noticed that the path went further into the forest though, so I went to check it out.

At that time there was a storm coming so everyone else rushed inside. Not me. I like storms. I found that there was another resort with several bungalows, another bar and restaurant further away. Trees had fallen on the path and the bungalows were in a real bad shape. Some of them I don’t know how they were still standing.

It was nice to see how the bungalows were built. It’s an amazing structure, must be hard to build a house on a steep hill. Also, I was pleased to see that these bungalows didn’t do much damage to the nature (accept from looking bad). They were merely empty shells made out of bamboo, wood or mortar. No trash or toxic substances leaking out in the ground. These houses will probably fall apart pretty soon, and all will go back to how it was before. The only memory will be the mortar stairs hidden by the mud going up the hill.

I don’t know much about this place. Even if this was in an area where lots of buildings were destroyed by the tsunami, I heard that this wasn’t the case with this resort. It was economic problems that was the main reason for its demise.

Again, these photos are only for documentation, I didn’t take very beautiful photos back then, just wanted to document everything to remember it better. Well, enjoy!
