This plant was refining ore into raw material for ironmaking. It was active 1960–1981. For a period, all the ore was taken from a 325 meter (1 000 ft) vertical shaft below the highest of these three buildings (64 m / 200 ft high). Every building had a special purpose (mining, crushing and enrichment). The enriched ore was then transported out through the long conveyor belt on the far right of the building.
In 1999 the area was used for an electronic music festival. I was there in 2020, but of course there was no festival then. I don’t know how they will proceed after covid19.
On a sign next to the plant: "Beneath our feet’s there are kilometer long corridors and mountain rooms, water-filled and full of lost equipment." There are warning signs saying you must look out for “falling objects”.
In the area you can also find a newly renovated, but now abandoned, power station, an abandoned railway, and ruins in the forest. When I was there people were training a "trotting horse" with a sulky and some workers were closing the last entry with mortar. I was tired, my GoPro didn’t want to work, and I had a great urbex experience the day before, so I just sat in the grass for a while watching this impressive building. Now its molded shut with all its secrets kept for eternity. Or at least until it falls apart.
