HISTORY ⬇️
The Chesterfield Hotel, formerly the Station Hotel, opened in 1877 and closed in 2015 after the previous company which owned it went bust.
Prestige bought the hotel for £900,000 in April 2017 and is understood to have spent up to £300,000 on repair and refurbishment work. Sadly refurbishment cost's are way too high for the company and abandoned the idea of doing it up. It was being marketed as a former 73-bedroom hotel with “extensive function and leisure facilities”, including a swimming pool and gym, large car park and “development potential”, with a guide price of £1.25 million. sadly no takers yet and plans are to either turn it into student accommodation or to knock it down by the council.
EXPLORE ⬇️
Upon my arrival to the location I was greeted by a lovely police car parked outside in what would of been the hotel’s own car park with 2 officers on site, so had to wait around nearly an hour before it was clear to have a good ole look and an hour of waiting later I was finally in and wow the waiting was certainly worth it I couldn’t quite believe my eyes with what I was exploring, in my 5 years of exploring I had never seen such a building as clean and untouched as this one I was smiling all throughout my visit. Starting off in the hotel’s swimming pool which was probably one of the only few spots within the hotel where there was a sign of vandalism and even so it was just a lone chair in the middle of the pool and a few other items that had been moved from their original locations but anyways I was vastly impressed with the overall cleanliness of the pool, however the only issue I had was the lack of lighting within the pool as it was very dark and difficult to get pics without them becoming grainy so gave it my best shot in there. Onward to the other areas within the hotel most of the rooms were marked out the same which you can expect that with a hotel, anyways what impressed me the most was the fact that it was like everyone who was staying at the hotel and also staff had just taken off in a flash which made me feel a bit emotional to see what looked to of been a good place to stay when visiting the local areas so overall it is and probably will always be one of my favourite explores ever.
