The history of grade 1 listed woolton hall 🏣

from a family hall to an old nunnery, the amazing history on this beautiful hall once owned by Richard molyneux heir to the croxteth estate! Was built in 1704 and was extensivly renovated in 1772 by a Scottish neoclassical architect Robert Adam.

many famous names including the sisters of notre dame, the earl of sefton and liverpool shipowner Frederick Richards Leyland once owned this lavish hall.

The Freemasons also met occasionally in this hall there are some amazing marking and paintwork with their symbols inside!

The history on the house is listed below and is now owned by the caretaker john friendliest guy ever I may also note.

Soon the building fell into disrepair, eventually being marked for demolition in the 1980s. The building was saved after local resident John Hibbert purchased the Hall and spent £100,000 in refurbishments, soon after Woolton Hall become a Grade I listed building on 28 June 1982. In 2005, there were plans to convert the estate and house into retirement care flats this didn’t happen and sadly the hall now stands empty and is closed to the public and up for sale.
