I knew about the place from way back when I used to have a drug problem. For Eight years I used to park near it
Never paying the breathtaking structure any mind. The city is a bankrupt mill town with many abandoned historic properties. It’s also an extremely tough, impoverished neighborhood that’s saturated with drugs. Years ago I was mugged there. Since I cleaned up my act seven years ago, I I picked up my urbex hobby again. The little school just sorta popped into my head. It’s only feet from the three decker next to it, and the houses in back are close to the ally. I was scared of being seen but after obsessing over it for a long time I went with all Of the necessary tools...had to saw a couple baby trees just to swing the gated basement window open once I removed the plywood. Felt a little guilty about the trees. I had to tie rope to the iron fence that borders the building because the basement level was a drop. I thought the design was really
Cool and although I only interact minimally
With other urban explorers, I happen to know this isn’t on anyones radar. It’s secret. The only people who know about it are the locals and probably a few homeless people who broke in when it was below zero. Unfortunately, I don’t have the more detail oriented pictures since I smashed my phone but I do have the most important ones. This gorgeous piece of architecture was designed in 1901 and has not recorded photos since its closure in 1991. On the front over the archway of the door it says “the year of our lord,” in Latin. That’s how I drew the conclusion that it was infact a school. It was a sentimental experience for me to see the inside after years of never appreciating it on my aimless travels as a zombie.
