I have been going past this place so many times with the train and it looks so amazing, especially with the small tree that grows at the top of the roof. The photos are from January, 11th 2020 and August 4th 2020.
The train station was opened October 1st, 1893, and the railway depot and workshop came soon after.
After WWII this was a hub for the rail traffic.
In the area there is one older round train garage made in wood and one newer locomotive shed built in brick. The use of the buildings was halted in 1997. All the rail is gone, now there’s only the few buildings and a control tower.
Some people would like to repair the area and make a museum out of it, but there’s hard go get funds for it. It would be great to do something about it because I’ve heard there are only two of those round wooden steam locomotive sheds left in Germany.
