Visit duration    2 hours

Been here during my Panama visit in 2019, as i recently discovered this website im uploading some of my old visits. As my visit is more than 3 years ago, i do not know the current state.

Bocas del Toro is a Tropical island in the North region of Panama. It is a popular tourist destination and many wealthy American people have a vacation home there.

Upon noticing our interest in abandoned buildings (after finding Monkey's Paradise - See my other posts) our host on Bocas del Toro notified us of an abandoned villa, owned by a wealthy American couple, nearby (their actual neighbours, but still so far away).

As stated by our host the villa was originally a vacation home owned by a wealthy American Couple who couldn't get along so well anymore. They divorced. The vacation house was claimed by both the husband and the wife and eventually won in the divorce by the husband. The husband however got ill and didn't return to the villa. So during the long divorce and the illness of the man the villa was left abandoned with all possessions still in the villa itself. Worthy items and food have been raided by villagers, so the neighbours spread a rumor about a dangerous snake going around the villa. Our host was not totally sure if this rumor was true or not, making this a dangerous place to go. There is NO hospital on this island.

But that didn't stop us from taking a look.

An intern of our host joined us on the hunt of this villa, being intrigued by the idea of an abandoned villa.

After walking for a while over the Dirtroad leading to our hosts neighbours, we first found an abandoned House project (see my other post).

After returning for the abandoned house project to the dirtroad we walked further and eventually noticed another driveway that was completely overrun by Nature. There we entered the garden of the Abandoned American Villa.

We first saw some abandoned 4WD cars and a trailer totally taken over by nature. The house itself was in a rough state, being abandoned for so long, but the (worthless) possessions of the owners were still there.

The villa has a private beach and an awesome view! This building and site must have really cost a fortune, It's really sad that this building is left to decay.

This was really spectaculair! Not many other Urbexers have seen this place and i consider it truly a hidden Gem!

PS. We did not run into a Dangerous snake. Pfew!
