Na een tip afgelopen zondag naar theater varia gereden
Makkelijk te vinden. Er is geen gat gemaakt in de muur die gemetseld was om de ingang dicht te krijgen. Ff wurmen maar binnen. Prachtig oud theater
Het werd alleen erg druk waardoor ik weggegaan ben. Tip. Ga vroeg

Le Théatre V,
Situé en plein milieu d'un centre ville, nous nous stoppons à côté de cet imposant édifice.
Dans un premier temps, nous regardons les différents accès qui s'offrent à nous mais nous constatons rapidement qu'un seul restera possible.
Un trou ridicule, c'était par là que nous allions devoir nous faufiler pour rentrer.
Cette salle de spectacle a été construite au début du 20e siècle. Elle est d'ailleurs l'une des rares à avoir résisté à la première guerre mondiale.
Par la suite, Bourvil et un certain Jacques Brel y feront leur apparition.
À la fin du 20e, le patrimoine wallon reconnaîtra cet édifice de par son histoire et grâce aussi en grande partie à son architecture (Art-nouveau).
Après de récents travaux d'environ 300,000€ pour renforcer sa structure, le bâtiment se voit enfin affecter à de nouveaux projets.
En ce qui concerne notre exploration, l'entrée fût délicate, nous devions attendre qu'aucun véhicule ne passe dans le rue à ce moment là.
Une fois à l'intérieur, nous arrivons directement dans la fosse, où l'importante scène se dévoile peu à peu. Au-dessus de celle-ci, se dresse une rideau rougeâtre avec de fines franges dorées. Sur les côtés de la fosse, une balustrade blanche se dresse de part et autre.
Après avoir monté quelques escaliers, nous débouchons sur le premier étage avec une vue magnifique sur l'ensemble du théâtre et de ses différents gradins.
Il reste cependant encore un balcon au-dessus de nous mais après avoir fait le tour, nous n'avons pas trouvé l'accès pour arriver à celui-ci. Durant ce tour, nous avons seulement trouvé un petit appartement avec sa cuisine.
En redescendant, nous en avons profité pour nous mettre dans la peau d'un acteur, en foulant le parquet. Cela devait être impressionnant de voir tous ces gradins remplis de public.
Pour finir, nous repassons par le petit trou de souris pour partir sur une fin d'exploration sportive.

J'ai pu découvrir ce bel endroit grâce à celui/celle qui a créé l'accès même si je ne cautionne pas son acte... je dis quand même merci. Malheureusement période où c'était Disney Land... ou beaucoup de monde s'y trouvait.
On se marchait dessus pour prendre nos photos.
Attention aux voisins qui en ont eut marre des allées et venues des gens.
Apprenez a être discret et respectez les lieux svp.

Theatre Varia, a location that I had on my list for many years, but was never able to visit.
A couple weeks ago, I had the chance to do so, so we did.
We got in via the known way in, however, a car was halfly parked in front of the entrance.
Once we were in, we explored it, and we were a bit dissapointed. We were expecting more, don't know why or what, but yes...

Eindelijk naar deze locatie. Gelukkig was het gat open.Ik heb gehoord dat de buurman zijn auto een keer pal voor het gat heeft geparkeerd zodat je er niet in kunt. Maar als hij dat doet terwijl je binnen bent,wordt je dus opgesloten. Gelukkig konden wij daar de auto neer zetten. En wij hebben geen last van de buurman gehad. Er was verder niemand binnen.Dat was prettig voor de foto's. Ik vond het een erg mooie locatie. Wel wat gewurm om erin en eruit te komen.

Deze locatie stond al even op mijn lijstje, omdat het vooral een overrompeling was toen deze net gekend was. Toen ik de eerste keer ben gegaan was binnen gaan absoluut geen optie, maar heb deze nu recent gedaan en was de meest top locatie die ik in mijn urbex jaren heb gedaan.
Bij het binnenkomen vroeg je je echt af wat hier vroeger allemaal heeft plaats gevonden. De projector die op sommige foto’s te zien was, was bij mijn bezoek helaas al weg..
het was echt een prachtige ervaring! En een absolute aanrader! Wij hebben geen kat gezien, denk dat de bus de halte is voorbij gereden.

difié au début du XXième siècle dans une partie très prospère d’une ville liée à l’industrie verrière, ce théâtre de style éclectique abritait une salle de 1500 places. Pendant ses heures de gloire, il accueillit des vedettes telles que Jacques Brel ou Bourvil.
Suite au déclin de l’activité industrielle de la région, le quartier subit d’importantes mutations et la salle ferme ses portes en 1986. La salle se dégrade petit à petit…
Malgré une procédure de classement aboutie en 1992, aucun projet de réhabilitation n’a encore pu aboutir. Le Varia n’est plus l’ombre que de lui-même …

Once upon a time there was a theatre with a rabbit hole...
In 1911 they built this massive temple of culture in art nouveau style.
It was one of the first buildings of that kind that was made out of concrete.
For several decades this glorious place with room for over 1000 people was flourishing but in it’s latter days it transformed into a cinema.
In 1986 at last, the complex was closed for public due to safety reasons.
From time to time people managed to get inside some way and in March of 2021 a small miracle took place.
A vehicle drove into the front wall of the theatre and a tiny rabbit hole remained.
Only big enough to let a normal build person just come through.
I was one of the first to play Alice in wonderland over there and hundreds followed later until the magic hole made closed again.
I waited to write this report until the fuzz was over, the last thing I wanted was graffiti stains on those historic walls.
Right now the theatre sleeps again, waiting for the next miracle to happen...

Ook deze bijzonder locatie stond al een langere tijd op mijn lijstje. Door de lockdown was het helaas niet mogelijk om theater varia te bezoeken. Het theater werd in 1986 gesloten, vanwege veiligheidsredenen. Theater varia heeft 70 jaar de bevolking voorzien van vermaak..
Eenmaal binnen op de locatie word je overrompeld door de geweldige details van dit gebouw. Je gaat je afvragen wat de muren voor verhalen zouden vertellen mochten deze spreken.. De projector die hier voorheen stond is helaas niet meer aanwezig. Je komt onder de tribunes, dicht bij het podium binnen, zo heb je de mogelijkheid om dit prachtige theater te bewonderen. Helaas werd het echt druk op het moment dat wij hier waren.. kom dus vroeg.
This special location has also been on my list for a long time. Due to the lockdown, it was unfortunately not possible to visit theater miscellaneous. The theater was closed in 1986 for security reasons. Theater varia has provided the population with entertainment for 70 years. Once inside the location you will be blown away by the great details of this building. You start wondering what the walls would tell stories if they speak .. The projector that used to be here is unfortunately no longer present. You enter under the stands, close to the stage, so you have the opportunity to admire this beautiful theater. Unfortunately it got really busy when we got here ... so come early.
