This castle had many owners over the time. Among others it was used by the NS-regime, the Red Army and the "Stasi" (state security service of the GDR). Sometimes it was also used as a film set. The newest plan of an investor is to convert it into a luxury hotel.
The castle is closed and "protected" by camera surveillance (maybe or its a mock idk). Still you had a good view from the lake. Afaik the renovation works started shortly after my visit. So it might be covered by site fences now.
