A very interesting location. Radar was used by the NATO to monitor the Belgian and Luxembourgish airspace. It was abandoned because the NATO moved to a new location.

There is a big underground bunker too but we didn't find an open access. Will return to check out some other entries.

Prachtige (oude) radar-toren op militair domein.

De geschiedenis:
Het bestaan van dit gebouw gaat terug tot 1948 toen het eerste radarstation geïnstalleerd werd. Het centrum is ondertussen verhuisd en maakt deel uit van een breed netwerk aan radars om zo een optimaal beeld te hebben van de luchtactiviteiten.

In een Control & Reporting Center wordt een radarluchtbeeld opgebouwd waarop goed getrainde controleurs alle luchtbewegingen boven ons land volgen. Hun informatie komt van verschillende radars in binnen- en buitenland. De hoofdopdracht bestaat er in te reageren bij elke schending van het luchtruim door een onderschepping met F16 vliegtuigen uit te voeren.

Ce fascinant vestige de la guerre froide a été mis à l'arrêt depuis peu. Si certaines infrastructures militaires avoisinantes ont trouvé une nouvelle affectation, on peut également découvrir à proximité un antique missile aux allures toujours menaçantes...
