This tunnel system runs underneath downtown Durham, NC. It is/was a very active urbex site and was great for beginners! I found the locations fairly easily and went with some friends to explore. Rain boots/some sort of waterproof footwear was a must to enter because you had to walk through a small stream, and the bottom on the inside always had a few inches of water in it, and it was advised to wear some sort of face mask to reduce the risk of issues from breathing in anything harmful in there. Graffiti completely covered the walls, but that made it all the more interesting! As of 2020, it appears to be closed off due to construction and I can’t tell if it’ll ever be accessible again.
