In the area there have been a mill since over 400 years. The first mill was abandoned but a second one was made to replace it. This one was used until the middle of the 1900’s. Today the region is one of the richer ones in the greater city with huge villas. I thought the villas would be even more expensive but when I checked most of them is sold for 6–12 million Swedish crowns (approx. 500 000 to 1 000 000 pounds or 700 000 to 1 400 000 USD. Still too expensive for me though, haha!

There is no public transportation all the way to this place and young people rides expensive moped cars (?) to get around. When you enter the residential area there are many signs of CCTV and neighbourhood cooperation against crime, and I feel a little bit uneasy to walk around here even if I am allowed to according to Swedish law.

The villas are built on a high hill facing a lake. The view could be so much more beautiful but there is a forest closest to the edge and it’s here, in the sparse forest, you can find the astonishing contrast to the villas: there are approx. five decaying summer houses on the edge of the hill. There is no road to these small houses, you must climb the cliffs to get to them. I figure that’s why they have been abandoned, because it seems like a hassle to repair them or even get to them if you have a lot of things with you.

I have read that people without homes have been using the summer houses during the wintertime and I’m a bit amused by this: here you have these rich people trying to create their own society separated from all others, and then, the ones who lives there, with the best view, are the people the villa residence seem to want to avoid. Maybe I am a bit (!) judgemental but if you can afford a summer house in this area, and you don’t take care of it, I don’t really feel sorry for you.

Of course, there are signs of forest fire and many bottles and other rubbish so there have been many people taking advantage of this secluded place to have parties and do a lot of harm to the houses and surrounding nature. I guess they just must tear these small houses down and sell the land as properties for new villas for the rich.

This wasn’t a great urbex and I just stayed for 45 minutes to watch the view. The thing I take with me is the paradoxical feeling of seeing great villas and only five meters into the woods to see these totally ruined summer houses.
