In its heyday, Tskaltubo had nine bathhouses around the central park area. These formed an important part of the city's "balneotherapy" function - treating illnesses and ailments by bathing in mineral-enriched waters.

The interior is large and airy and certainly once looked impressive. We saw that some of the deep yellow tiled bathrooms were still intact and there were some private bathrooms in the basement. There was also a courtyard with a fountain, but everything is in poor condition and nature has reclaimed a lot.
