Visit duration    3 hours

I had seen and heard about Talgarth Asylum aka mid wales hospital through many websites so decided to pay it a visit. Easy to find on google maps. On arrival I drove into the site through the old pillars and past the private roads sign to scout the area (playing stupid taken a wrong turn if questioned) once I had driven around I decided to park my car away from the site on the road leading to the pillared entrance. There are a couple of houses outside the site and one directly at the pillars so scout if anybody are in the gardens before you decide to walk up the private road. I decided to take the confident stance and just waltzed up the private road. Once the site comes into view you have the main complex to your right and the church to your left. I media’s to your right there’s an outbuilding so I explored those first. Most of the complex’s furniture had been moved into these buildings (70s style building) after that we walked up the the church. The was no way in but you’re able to get some shots of the interior through gaps in the boarding. After the church we explored more of the out buildings. Be careful as there are houses around the site and they use the roads on the site as access to their property. When all the outbuildings were complete I walked along the perimeter of the main complex prodding for entrances. As I was walking along I noticed a small white van with an old man drive past and then stop at the other end of the site. When I would walk around a corner out of his sight he would move until I was in sight again so I knew he was watching, waiting for me to try to get in. There are a few window entrances open to get into (careful of barbed wire) but after gauging my options, I decided to jump the gate to the right of the reception building. I just had to lose the old guy in the white van. So I walked down to one end of the site around a corner and hid. Once the driver had come to my end of site he drove around the corner and had to get to the end of the road to turn around so I knew that was my chance. I bolted to the gate and jumped over. Once over I got out of sight of the gates and at that point once you’re in your safe as nobody can see you as you’re inside the complex. Once inside I explored every building which are not in the best state as the council had the roof tiles removed during the 00,s leading to rapid deterioration. Be careful if attempting to go upstairs. Most of the stairs are concrete so safe but surrounded rooms are wooden joists which can be rotted so look before you step lol. Most of the complexes furnishings have been removed so you can swiftly move from room to room until to get to the grand theatre. Wow moment! When in the theatre half is in decent shape whilst the other half has deteriorated giving a good vs evil/ heaven and hell vibe. Once I had explored the complex I decided last port of call was the boiler rooms so made my way over there. Once in the boilers room you are greeted with 2 huge boilers the size of minibuses (great picture spot) once in the boiler room be careful as the windows look out to the access road which brings me to my exit. Once in the boiler room I found that I could exit through the boiler rooms door window but I noticed the same little white van driving back and forth no doubt looking for me around the complex. I waited for him to drive past and quickly climbed out and just walked along the perimeter once out he drove past once again so I played it cool as I knew I hadn’t been seen inside the site he drove past and then watched as I made my way back to my car. Knowing he would take my number plate I walked past the car and walked up the road. Once he was out of sight I ran to the car got in and drove away. A man amazing adrenaline filled adventure and would recommend to anybody but beware of the creepy old guy. Not once did he say anything to me. He would just drive past park up and watch from afar. Site score 10/10
