Le Petit Ceinture (means Little Belt) is old railway tracks that goes around all of Paris in a circle. There were trains puffing on these tracks until 1934, but most of the tracks are still there today.

The railway was built 1851 and the whole circle was finished in 1867. The line goes for 34,2 kilometres and it had 31 stations. The tracks were used to move goods (and later also people) faster through the city, but it was also a precaution to help military move around in case of a new revolution.

In 2007 some parts of the tracks were opened as a promenade. I was there two times in 2019 and they were still building more parts to be assessable to the public. Soon I guess it won’t be so exciting to go here anymore. As you can see in my photos, they cut all the vegetation down. As an urbexer I would have preferred they kept it like it was, but it’s very nice for the people of Paris that they are making a promenade as well. I hope they leave the graffiti though. :)
