Bärenquell means Spring of Bears in German. This was a popular beer brand in Germany.

There has been a brewery in this area since 1880s under different names. During the GDR era the brewery blossomed, but like many other industries and companies’ big changes happened when the country was reunited again. In 1994 the brewery was closed. The Bärenquell brand has not existed since 2009.

After the brewery closed there have been a few different plans for it. First it was a great place for urbexers, and many great graffiti artists has made their mark on the place.

The area consists of a few great beautiful brick buildings and it’s nice they are going to be used for something instead of being torn down.

Right now, it’s lost for good and there are many workers on the sight. I read in a German newspaper they are planning to build offices, restaurants and make premises for a university at the place.

One year ago, I read that people was still visiting it but right now it’s lost, lost for good for us urbexers. :,-(
