so this is called the montauk cutoff in queens , essentially an abandoned long island railroad line left to rot . this has been abandoned since the 1910s or so i believe , theres been very plans to revive this line but most preferably not . access was very easy for the most part , you have to go thru a garden that has tracks leading to the cutoff . coolest thing is that theres an abandoned train hiding in the yard that’s accessible but try your best not be caught . it was a 10/10 in my opinion . as seen in 1908 , the area was filled with train tracks serving the docks , factories , and warehouses of long island city . the road running diagonally on this street grid is jackson avenue , the westernmost segment of new york state route 25A , which ends its 73-mile run near the north fork of long island . but in its last three decades of operation , freight usage greatly declined and passenger trains no longer needed it for turning around . the MTA sought to divest itself of the costly tracks and nature slowly reclaimed the montauk cutoff.
