In the south center of Stockholm there are still ruins from a large paint factory. About 100 years ago this must have been the outside of the city, and still it is kind of an industrial area even if there are many new residents nearby.

The building was constructed in 1889 by Helge Palmcrantz. Previously he had been involved with the making of the machine gun (?) and farm machines. From 1902 the paint factory was located here. They made paint, soap, art supplies and first aid articles. There were also other industries that made bicycles and different farm machines here. The area got electricity from their own steam engine.

The production was ongoing until the 1970s, after that the buildings were used as warehouses. Soon after that the area was left to decay for a long time. In 2006 the area was sold to a building company that planned to build apartments there. The plans have been postponed many times, due to difficulties with pollution, black mold and other problems. Some of the buildings were protected by law because of their historical importance.

Among urbexers the place was known for its strict keeper: a man living on the area in a caravan (just like in Spreepark!). People were afraid of him, but I met him, and he was a really nice man that showed me around on the premises on the last day he was living there. Fortunately he was moving somewhere else, but he had stayed there for many years.

One of the buildings have been renovated and made up as an art museum. The destruction of the others were started in the summer of 2020.
