☢️ Doomsday Hospital. 1985
Shelters in case of nuclear weapons use were created not only to shelter civilians or factory personnel. In fact, at one time, shelter were created for each field of activity.
So, we have an underground hospital with an area of 864 square meters. In the shelter, there are often medical rooms that are designed to provide medical assistance to the sheltered. As a rule, these are small offices a la polyclinic. The nuclear hospital also has a full-fledged operating room, an oxygen station, a warehouse of medical equipment and means of transportation, in addition to standard canvas stretchers.
At the moment there is only one table and a lamp left from the operating room, previously there could have been several operating places in this room, there are large rooms for patients and a separate one for staff in the shelter. They say the oxygen tanks disappeared from the oxygen station at the beginning of the pandemic.
Initially, there was an idea that this object was intended in order to shelter the sick of the medical institution here in case of an emergency, which is located directly above the bunker, but the dissonance (150 people sheltered at 864 sq/m is somehow strange ...) made me think. Earlier, in one of the posts about Shelter, I told that not everyone can take refuge in a shelter.
In the case of the Doomsday hospital, everything is prosaic - this PO is designed to shelter the senior medical staff of the hospital - these are qualified doctors with experience, and all nurses will burn in an atomic fire. Regarding the patients: no one was going to save them either, they were destroyed by the shock wave along with the structure of the building. After the attack, a couple of days later, the doors of the hospital that remained underground opened and it began to accept those who were "lucky" to survive on the surface. Copious burns, fractures, amputation and poisoning are the main profile of this institution.
In order to identify yourself on the ruins of the destroyed city, there is a large white flag with a red cross. This is the medicine of the apocalypse.
