This was a big sports complex for athletes during the DDR.

Now every window is smashed and there are high fences all around the place. I only got to look at it from the outside. All the buildings are very trashed, and the place have also been on fire, burning for a couple of hours. Although, the building is very interesting, and you can get beautiful photos still. :)

It was the second biggest sports centre in the town, built as a hotel and congress centre in the late 1950s, then in the 1970s more buildings were added. The sports centre had many different facilities for volleyball, handball, judo, fencing, beach volleyball and other sports (all together 35 different sports were played here, I’ve read in an article).

According to the article I read about the place, this was also home to SC Dynamo Berlin, which was the sports club of the Ministry of Police and the Ministry for State Security (the Stasi).

It has now been abandoned since at least 2007 and accept from the very new and sturdy fences, it doesn’t look to be renovated any time soon.
