Been here during my Vietnam visit in 2019. I've recently discovered this website and i'm currently uploading some of my old visits. Since my visit is almost 3 years ago, i do not know the current state of the buildings.

Cat Ba Island is an island in the Lan Ha Bay in the north of Vietnam. The island holds a very beautiful national park and allot of wildlife.

Having several plans and booked tours canceled due to the tropical cyclone Wipha that was coming our way, we decided to explore the island of Cat Ba on a hired scooter.

After receiving the wreck of a scooter, that miraculously still started, we went on our way to explore the wonders of Cat Ba.

The island itself holds many abandoned buildings and boats, mainly due to the fact that when something is not save anymore, people just leave it as it is.

At the end of our trip, we came across what looked like an abandoned road. This road however still has a barrier in front of it. We decided to explore the road a bit further.

To our surprise, at the end of the road, there was a whole new village, full with roundabouts and traffic lights, but without actual finished buildings.

This town was supposed to be new, and people bought houses to finance the construction project. But for some reason the construction company ran out of money, and the project was left abandoned. Resulting in several unfinished houses and a totally abandoned new town.

It was a very rainy day during our trip, so this has a dark impact on the uploaded pictures.
