M/S Legend is a former Finnish passenger steamer, which has been semi-sunk in since the middle of the 1990’s.

She is 27 meters (88,5 feet) long and was a beauty once, now half of the ship is under water, but you can still see the name tag in the front. She had room for 120 passengers that was catered by three (!) restaurants. On the aft deck there was a dance floor. First, she had a steam engine, but she was motorized in 1967 after a fire broke out on the ship.

She was built in 1906 in Finland and was named after a Finish town close by the boatyard. She then sailed on Finish canals until 1987. The ship made four-hour cruises, lunch, and wedding cruises. The Finnish president has been a passenger once. In the late 1980’s she was sold and renamed M/S Legend.

In 1994 she was sold again to operate passenger traffic close to the area where she is now. The new owner realized she needed a lot of work done. In the 1990’s there was a recession and fewer passengers chartered the boat. Somehow, she was left, and she sank a couple of years later.

Today she is practicality without an owner and there are still ongoing discussions on how to get her out of the water. She is probably beyond repair but there are rumours that someone wants to remodel her and make her into a hostel. She had a long life from 1906 until 1996, but it’s hard to see her resurrect at this point.

Next to her there are a few other sunken ships. A visit might be possible if you ask the boatyard where is now situated.
