An abandoned dealership, originally the Hampton Jaguar and then eventually becoming a “Hampton Preowned”, is comprised of 3 buildings totaling 4,028 square feet. It sits in ruins right on the side of a busy interstate in a happening area of town; A public eyesore for many, solace for homeless folks, and a hangout for bored teenagers. It closed in approximately 2013, when the Jaguar brand merged with Land Rover and opened a new facility near by. It shifted into Hampton Preowned, focusing on used car sales and services, but did not last. The smallest of the three buildings was still designated to the Jaguar brand. After its closure, it has been said the police department used the building for training. Wide open, very visible, and with a hefty price tag, it sat unused for years while thieves and vandals entered frequently. Inside, old signage and furniture still lingered. Hundreds of files including receipts, payments, sales bills and records were scattered all over the floors. Some of the papers even dated back to 1989. Sadly it is now all gone. In early 2020, all the glass and doors were gutted out making it more easily accessible. On December 7th 2020, a fire erupted in the main building and it was deemed unsafe to enter. After the suspicious fire, the property was sold to Floor and Decor. It is now demolished and awaits a new life.
