Im Jahre 1824 wurde das Landeswaisenhaus erbaut. Später soll es dann als Korrekturanstalt für kriminelle Kinder gedient haben. Von 1918 bis 1933 war es ein Kinderheim. Ab 1933 wurden „Asoziale und Arbeitsunwillige“ im Heim einquartiert. Man wollte die Patienten umformen. Nach dem 2. Weltkrieg wurde das Gebäude als Jugendwerkhof genutzt, später dann wieder als Spezialkinderheim für schwer erziehbare Jugendliche. Ungehorsame Kinder mussten im Keller schlafen. 1989 wurde das Spezialkinderheim dann geschlossen.
