I wondered whether I was REALLY going to do this as I shuffled nervously up the driveway. It’s not like being at the dockyards, where there were people around if something went wrong. This large building was set back off the road, and once I was inside, no one would be aware of where I was. “This is a bad idea,” I thought as I crossed the threshold, “but I’m gonna do it anyway.”
The interior was bright and well lit by the wide sunny windows, and as I walked around, I wondered as to the purpose of the place. There were rooms that were distinctly bedrooms, but the first floor had communal bathrooms and an office, with what looked like a reception counter.
When I returned to the Islands in 2019, I looked forward to returning to locations I had shot, hoping that years of taking photographs and an improved camera would create more interesting and exciting photographs, but alas. I passed along the road out of the dockyards, and above the road, the house, now red, was restored to habitable glory.
