Me and a close urbex friend explored this building early doors one weekend. We set off at the crack of dawn in order to gain access without being seen. The location of the site is on a quaint river nestled into the Derbyshire countryside.

Brief history:

This mill was one of a series of textile mills constructed on the Derwent between Matlock and Derby during the Industrial Revolution. Warehouse, constructed in 1793, was an early attempt by William Strutt, Jedediah's eldest son, to design a fire-proof multi-storey structure.

The explore:

Entry into the building used to be through a hole in the fence on the main gate. This was patched so we took the old fashioned route over the wall and onto a chair for an easyish access. If you have a problem climbing this isn't the explore for you! After gaining access the whole site is then at your feet. Many old warehouses completely empty apart from a few old dials and materials left behind.

Walking around you can see two split sides. One side is the old mill and the other side is an old antique shop that went out of buisness. Some of the old antiques are still around but are unrecognizable now due to many explores or mindless teenagers... The mill side and chimney stack are grand and full of industrial style goodies.

To summarise the place is great for photographers who don't mind a climb!

Apologies if the report is a bit vague... I've uploaded this via my phone today!

HAPPY EXPLORING!!!
